Major exists because of a contradiction. Songwriting is an art, but managing a music career is a business. For years, I lived this struggle.
As a songwriter in the Nashville and UK Americana scenes, I worked with incredible talents and amassed a catalogue of songs I’m proud of. But my workflow was a mess of scattered notes, lost voice memos, and email chains.
In my other life, I am a Senior Software Engineer building critical systems for financial institutions. I realised that the tools we use to manage millions of pounds were lightyears ahead of the tools we use to manage our art.
I looked around and saw other industries using beautiful, fluid tools to organise their work. But when I looked at software for songwriters, I found the opposite: clunky interfaces and outdated design.
It didn't make sense. Why should a project manager get world-class software, while a songwriter has to settle for sub-standard tools?
